Aim
- Subsea engineering and operations embraces
all aspects of engineering and related operations in the development
of the subsea hydrocarbons industry below the surface of the
sea. The aim of the Committee is to establish subsea engineering
as a recognised discipline of engineering and to examine the
needs for education, training and standards.
Objectives
- To provide a forum for the development of
subsea engineering technology and to identify those areas where
research effort is likely to prove most cost-effective.
- To promote and encourage scientific research
and development in subsea operations.
- To provide a forum to discuss and encourage
co-operation and co-ordination within all branches of subsea
engineering and operations, and to liaise with engineering institutions.
- To establish itself as a recognised authority
for information on the present and future capabilities of subsea
engineering and operations, and to disseminate this information.

- To promote and support education and training
in subsea engineering.
- To oversee the Subsea
Engineering Specialisation Assessment Panel.
This Panel provides
the peer review process for admission onto the
Register
of Subsea Engineers.
Membership
- Membership is encouraged from engineers working
in the following areas: academic and research establishments,
equipment manufacturers, major oil/gas companies, major engineering
contractors, subsea engineering companies, consultants, offshore
support companies, Government departments [MOD(N), DTI (OSO)],
and, regulating authorities.
